Permanent Solution to Missing Teeth

“Permanent Solution to Missing Teeth: Dental Implants!”

Lack of teeth is not only an aesthetic problem, but it can also negatively affect your oral health. That’s why dental implants are the most permanent solution that will not look like your natural teeth!

What is Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium that replace the roots of missing teeth. On these roots, prosthetic teeth are placed, which provide the closest aesthetic and functional results to natural teeth.

Why Implant?

🔹 Natural Appearance: Compatible with your teeth, aesthetic and strong.

🔹 Long Lasting: Solid and permanent solution that will last for years.

🔹 Comfortable: You do not feel the lack of your teeth, you can use them comfortably like natural teeth.

🔹 Protects Jaw Health: Prevents bone resorption caused by missing teeth.

Other dental problems can affect the success of tooth whitening. For example, cavities need to be treated before teeth are whitened. That’s because the whitening solution can pass through decayed areas and reach the inner parts of the tooth. If your gums have receded, the exposed roots of your teeth may appear yellow or discolored. Whitening products will not make them whiter.

If you have tooth decay or receding gums, whitening may make your teeth sensitive. Whitening also does not work on ceramic or porcelain crowns or veneers.

What are the dental implant stages

The dental implant process typically involves several stages, each crucial for ensuring the success and longevity of the implant. Here’s a breakdown of the key stages in a dental implant procedure:

1. Initial Consultation and Evaluation

  • Dental Exam: A comprehensive examination, including X-rays or 3D imaging (CT scans), is done to assess bone density and the condition of your teeth and gums.
  • Treatment Planning: Based on your oral health, the dentist creates a personalized treatment plan, taking into consideration the number of implants needed, their placement, and whether additional procedures (like bone grafting) are required.

2. Tooth Extraction (if necessary)

  • If the tooth that needs replacement is still present, it must be removed. In some cases, the implant can be placed immediately after extraction (immediate implant placement), but often the gums and bone need time to heal.

3. Bone Grafting (if needed)

  • If the jawbone is not thick or dense enough to support an implant, a bone graft may be necessary. This involves adding bone material to strengthen the jaw. It can take a few months for the graft to integrate and create a solid foundation.

4. Implant Placement Surgery

  • This stage involves surgically placing the titanium implant post into the jawbone, where it will act as an artificial root. The gum is then stitched up over the implant, and healing begins.
  • Osseointegration: After implant placement, the bone needs to fuse with the implant through a process called osseointegration. This typically takes 3-6 months but ensures the implant is securely anchored.

5. Healing Period

  • During osseointegration, the implant becomes part of the bone structure. This phase is crucial for the long-term success of the implant, and you’ll need to maintain excellent oral hygiene during this period.

6. Abutment Placement

  • After the healing process, an abutment (a connector piece) is placed on top of the implant. The abutment serves as the support for the final crown.
  • In some cases, the abutment can be placed during the implant surgery itself, while in others, it may be done in a second minor procedure.

7. Crown Placement

  • Once the gums have healed around the abutment, a custom-made crown (prosthetic tooth) is attached. The crown is designed to match the color and shape of your natural teeth, providing a natural and functional result.

8. Follow-Up and Maintenance

  • After the procedure is complete, follow-up visits are scheduled to ensure proper healing and that the implant is functioning as expected.
  • Long-term success depends on maintaining good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding harmful habits like smoking or teeth grinding.
